 Services

At Nest, we’ve created a place of refuge to provide a launching ground for a healthy life.

Our first visit will probably be over a cup of tea.  During this time, we will talk about your medical history, review relevant laboratory evaluations and formulate a treatment plan.  Your personalized care will consist of well-researched and personalized acupuncture treatments, individually formulated herbal remedies, therapeutic abdominal massage, nutrition and lifestyle advice, and consistent communication with your other healthcare providers.

In our approach to fertility, we begin by building your overall wellness, addressing any underlying conditions such as pre-menstrual syndrome, endometriosis, fibroids, and polycystic ovarian syndrome.  Building successful fertility will involve regulating menstrual cycles and ovulation, stimulating healthy uterine lining, balancing hormonal activity, and for the men, improving sperm parameters.

For those patients pursuing assisted reproductive therapies, we will work closely with your physicians to enhance your treatment, help to moderate side effects of medications, speed procedure recovery time, all leading you toward your goal of building a family.

Before your first visit:
If you have the chance, please print and complete your intake packet, and bring it with you to  your first visit.  If time is short, or you simply forget, we of course have the forms available at our office and you can fill them out there.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is part of the entire system of Chinese Medicine, and it is grounded in thousands of years of successful clinical practice in the treatment and prevention of many conditions. The medicine is based on the theory that all of nature exists in a balance between opposite yet complimentary forces (yin and yang). According to Chinese medical theory, meridians (pathways) run throughout the body, where Qi (vital energy) courses through these pathways in a continuous flow. When the normal flow of Qi is disrupted, there is an imbalance. Insufficiency or blockage in one or more of these pathways occurs and symptoms of disease or disharmony develop.

The goal of acupuncture treatments is to reestablish a balanced flow of energy throughout the body and promote natural healing. Treatment involves insertion of extremely fine needles at specific points on the body to unblock and rebalance energy flow, allowing the body to return to its natural and harmonious state of health and well being.

Chinese medicine is unique in its ability to treat an individual person and not a disease or a symptom. Treatments are specific to each individual, and address each person’s specific disharmony.

From a Western point of view, acupuncture releases myofascial constriction, stimulates blood circulation, activates the body’s natural pain and stress-reducing chemicals and stimulates the body’s immune response.

Herbs

Chinese Herbal Medicine is quickly establishing itself as one of the most popular and effective alternative therapies in the West. Used frequently in combination with acupuncture treatments,

the Chinese Herbal Pharmacopia includes over 1500 herbs mostly from plants, flowers, roots and barks. Individual herbs are usually combined with other herbs  to create unique and customized formulas specific for each case. Taking the herbs mixed together in a formula not only minimizes any unpleasant effects of individual herbs, but also maximizes the benefits by focusing on the specific disharmony for each different case.
Formulas may be taken in several forms, including teas, powders, or pills. Unlike Western Herbs, which primarily address symptoms, Chinese Herbal Medicine addresses the underlying energetic disharmony causing the disease (the root) in addition to the symptoms manifesting (the branch).

We contribute to your overall health and fertility through regulating menstrual cycles, promoting ovulation, stimulating healthy uterine lining and regulating hormonal activity.

We also address underlying conditions such as pre-menstrual syndrome, endometriosis, fibroids, polycycstic ovarian syndrome and premature ovarian failure.

For the men, we may improve sperm count, morphology and motility.

We know from experience that a team approach works best.  When working in conjunction with your assisted reproductive therapies we can enhance your treatment success, help to modulate side effects of medications, and speed post-surgical recovery.
